RORY’S STORY
For the past 19 years Rory has been telling stories for the world's largest brands, first as a creative director at VICE and now as a director. It's been a long journey from a small sheep-ridden town in New Zealand to New York City and now Detroit.
When he was eight years old Rory discovered a love for typography and the craft of making letterforms with personality. That love continues to drive his creative ethos: finding empathy in the intersection between personality and craftsmanship.
As a director Rory's work for Shinola has been nominated for two Webby's. His 2022 short documentary, "Off the Breaks," about a young boy with neurofibromatosis and an intense fear of breaking his bones, was an Official Selection at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival. This year Rory's short doc "A Two Hearted Tale," which tells the story behind Bell's Brewery's iconic label art for its Two Hearted IPA, is making the film festival rounds. He recently created the NFL Draft 2024 Campaign spot for the Detroit Sports Commission.
